虎ノ門ヒルズステーションタワー・TOKYO NODEにて開催された展覧会『デザインあ展neo』において、作品制作・協力を行いました。
今回は展覧会全体のコンセプトである「動詞」をテーマに、3作品に参加しました。

展覧会全体のイントロダクションにあたる『動詞の庭』では、道具を扱う日常のシーンに現れる「動詞」に着目したインスタレーションを制作しました。道具にはそれぞれにまつわる「動詞」が取り付けられており、その一部は「動詞」の動きをひとりでに繰り返します。

展覧会の最初にある、道具をあつかう人びとの行為をながめる部屋です。しかしそこには人のすがたはなく、道具だけがまるで 「あつかわれている」かのようにふるまいます。それぞれのふるまいには人の行為をあらわす動詞が添えられています。よくよく観察すると、注意が必要な動作や無意識にするしぐさ、訓練して身につけた技やだれからも教わることなく生まれつきできる動作など、さまざまなタイプの動詞が見えてきます。道具をあつかう日常のシーンから人の姿を引き算することで、ふだんとは違う視点で自分たちのありふれた行為を見つめます。

The first room in the exhibition is a space for gazing at the behavior of people using tools. We don’t, however, see the tool users. The tools alone appear as if they are being handled together with the verbs that express each user action. Looking closely, we come to observe various types of verb. Some operations require extreme care and attention while others are performed almost automatically. Some are skills mastered through long practice and others, natural talents we are born with. Tool-use is an everyday scene but no-one appears here. We observe everyday actions and verbs from a non-everyday perspective.
